JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Network Engineer
Department: Projects Department
Reports To: Head of Projects GCC
Location: Dubai, UAE

Job Purpose:

To design, implement, and maintain wired and wireless network infrastructures with a primary focus on enterprise-grade Wi-Fi solutions. The role ensures reliable connectivity, high performance, and secure access for both staff and guest networks. The engineer supports pre-sales, deployment, and postimplementation activities, delivering tailored Wi-Fi and HSIA solutions that meet client requirements and align with company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Network and Wi-Fi Design
– Design and plan LAN, WAN, and WLAN solutions.
– Develop Wi-Fi coverage designs using tools like Ekahau or similar planning software.
– Define SSID structure, VLAN mapping, and authentication methods (PMS, captive portal, vouchers, PSK, 802.1X).
Implementation and Configuration
– Install and configure routers, switches, controllers, gateways, and access points.
– Deploy Wi-Fi networks for indoor, outdoor, and high-density environments.
– Integrate Wi-Fi solutions with customer systems such as PMS, SMS OTP, or marketing platforms.
Monitoring and Optimization
– Monitor wired and wireless network performance using NMS and Wi-Fi analytics tools.
– Troubleshoot interference, coverage gaps, and client connectivity issues.
– Optimize bandwidth, roaming, and QoS for business and guest Wi-Fi use.
Security and Compliance
– Configure Wi-Fi security (WPA3, VLAN isolation, firewall policies, captive portals).
– Ensure compliance with customer policies, telecom regulations, and data retention requirements.
– Implement load balancing, redundancy, and failover for high availability.
Support and Collaboration
– Work with pre-sales and project teams to deliver customer Wi-Fi requirements.
– Provide support for clients, including troubleshooting HSIA gateways and guest Wi-Fi portals.
– Coordinate with telecom providers for internet lines and integration.
Documentation and Reporting
– Prepare Wi-Fi site survey reports, heatmaps, and handover documents.
– Maintain updated network diagrams, SSID/VLAN tables, and configuration records.
– Generate Wi-Fi usage reports for customers (session counts, bandwidth, device types).
Continuous Improvement
– Research new Wi-Fi standards (Wi-Fi 6/6E/7) and recommend upgrades.
– Test and evaluate new Wi-Fi hardware models.
– Train junior engineers and share best practices in Wi-Fi deployment.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, or a related field.
Experience: Proven Experience in IT Support.
Technical Skills:
Networking Protocols & Services
TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, NAT, QoS, VPN (IPSec, SSL, GRE).
Routing & Switching
Configuration of routers, Layer 2/3 switches, trunking, and spanning tree.
Wi-Fi Technologies
Wi-Fi 5/6/6E standards, RF planning, coverage design, channel optimization, roaming, and high-density deployments.
Wi-Fi Tools & Platforms
Ekahau (site survey, heatmaps), Wi-Fi analyzers, spectrum analysis, captive portal management, and HSIA gateways.
Authentication & Security
WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X, RADIUS, captive portals, PMS integration, voucher and SMS/email OTP authentication, and firewall policies.
Monitoring & Management
Network Management Systems (NMS), SNMP, syslog, Wi-Fi controllers (on-prem/cloud), performance analytics.
Hardware Expertise
Access points, controllers, gateways, firewalls, and switches from multivendor environments (Cisco, Huawei, Fortinet, EZELINK, etc.).
Operating Systems & Tools
Linux (CentOS, Debian), Windows Server, command-line troubleshooting, Wireshark, and packet capture tools.
Documentation & Reporting
Network diagrams, Wi-Fi survey reports, handover documentation, and technical presentations.
